BT Rolling out Remote DsLams

Phew, Glad we chose this as a line of business as BtW in conjunction with OpenReach have chosen to install remote DSLams in TPON areas. This is an area we were investigating the market in, by covering with short-hop wireless but the up-front costs were mad for the potential return.

BT Pricing for Leased Lines

While investigating the viability of this project, I approached BT for Internet Leased Lines in this area. This is within the UK to avoid any confusion, in a major city. The location will become clear later.


These are genuine quotes, and I have the emails and contact details of those at BT to back these up, and can provide them upon request.


Here are what they had to offer:

As promised see below for 10MB access and 100MB Access internet access …includes a managed router on a non contended backbone.






Absolutely astounded at their offering I then asked for a re-quote for a 2Mb/s leased line to the same location. Bear in mind this location is less than one mile from the city centre exchange!


BT:
You can have 2MB access with a 2MB port ( obviously no room for growth )

I have to say I nearly fell off my chair when I saw that you can have a BT Leased Line, 2Mb/s less than 1 mile from a major City Centre telephone exchange for a little short of £800 per month plus a £3,600 setup cost.
